Wonderful Rani

Rani is a 2 -3 year old Boxer cross girl who is desperate for a new home. Rani craves the company of people and doesn't like to be left alone. She is good with other dogs and people and clean in her kennel. Rani is looking for her a home where she can be a companion to someone who is at home most of the time at least to begin with until she feels secure in her new surroundings.

D - Fine

C - Could be tested

K - We think Rani would be fine with children.

YOU COULD SAVE US

We are struggling to keep your local Dog Rescue Centre ‘Plantation Dog Rescue’ running. We need to raise a lot more regular monthly donations to keep the rescue open. Most of our dogs were due to be put to sleep when we rescued them from the crowded council run kennels in Yorkshire. We assess, vaccinate, microchip, neuter, flea and worm each dog. We also do some basic training with them to make it easier for them to find a suitable home. We check all the homes and do an annual check on each dog. Since January 2005 we have rescued and rehomed nearly 200 dogs from Yorkshire and other areas and completed many people’s families. With your help we can continue to give these dogs the chance that they deserve. We receive most of our food from very generous food collections in local supermarkets but at the moment we have very few direct debits/standing orders which are what Plantation Dog Rescue really needs to secure a future for the many unwanted and abandoned dogs in the UK. Not only do we have the veterinary bills to pay, but all the everyday running costs too which are huge!

We really are desperate to keep the rescue going it has helped so many needy dogs already it would be a tragedy to have to close. We are half way towards our target now so your donation really will make a difference to these dogs lives.

Donators!

Thank you for your continued support, we all greatly appreciate it and would not be able to continue without your help.

Donations are always being used to keep the dog's flea and worming treatments up to date. We use Frontline Spot on and Milbemax every 3 months. Depending on the size of the dog this costs between £6 and £10 per dog.

The training scheme is back in action now that all the new dogs have been vaccinated. All the staff each have a certain number of dogs to do training work with to make it easier for them to find a home, time permitting!

On the 28th June we went into York with an electric Rigshaw  collecting money for the rescue and giving rides in exchange for a donation. We made 119 pounds and 47 pence!

Later on in the Summer time there is talk of some of the staff doing a sponsored sky dive too so watch this space! :)

We are still in desperate need of plain mixer or meal so if you have any please bring it up and we will gladly use it for the dogs.

May - June Update: We have begun refurbishing some of the kennels, Matthew and Freddie have kindly been painting and tiling come rain or shine! So far 4 down, lots to go but it's a start! Ebony has settled down well now and is back up for rehoming so fingers crossed for her. Another thing on the agenda at the moment is revamping the website to make it clearer and more user friendly, it is going to be a long project but it is already in motion most nights!!

We are hoping to be at Kirkstall Fair in Leeds on 12th July promoting the rescue and selling doggy items so please come and see us.

OUR REGISTERED CHARITY NUMBER IS :

1124633

We have taken in another 6 dogs in the last month or so, one pair who were found dumped on an island between two main roads and had clearly been used only for breeding, a couple of terriers have been handed over due to family cicumstances and another 2 strays whose time was up and they were due to be pts so we have been very busy! Luckily one has already gone home and we have some interest in the Terriers so fingers crossed they will find lovely homes and we will be able to take a few more from death row.In the meantime may all the ones that haven't had that second chance rest in peace.

Rehoming slowed down a bit in May but it seems to be picking up again but as usual we are inundated with calls everyday from people asking us to take in dogs. It is so sad when so many dogs are being put to sleep everyday but we are unable to take them due lack of funds and space. All we can do is struggle on and maybe one day when we are financially more stable we can expand and help more dogs in need, but to do that we really need the public's help.

Bye for Now and Thank You Again For Your Much Needed Support!

Luggs is a very special boy .....

Luggs is deaf. He has no other problems at all and doesnt need any medical treatment for his hearing. He is so lovely and bouncy, it doesnt seem to phase him at all. He loves people and other dogs and could be cat tested too.

Luggs was only about 7 months old when he arrived, bless him. He is now about 10 months.

He is quite an active dog and has a fantastic temperament. Luggs was found as a stray and was due to be put to sleep but we just couldnt resist his beautiful face!

He will make a great family pet but is looking for a special home. He will need a home with a lot of patience o train him. Due to his hearing difficulties he is starting to learn sign language and when he does find a new home his owners will have to be very careful if/where they let him off the lead.

K - Yes, but not youngsters as he might knock them over with excitement!

C - Luggs has been cat tested and was really good

Hi there, my name is Stan. I am a medium sized Labx. I am looking for a quiet retirement home. As you can see I am a handsome boy, apart from being a little bit overweight I am in good health.

I enjoy strolls but mostly I enjoy the companionship of people. I have unfortunately been handed over due to my owners very ill health and am desperate to find love again.

BAILEY!

Bailey is about a year old, she is very friendly and loving. Bailey has just been returned to us because she is a digger! Bailey had dug her way out a couple of times in a not so happy neighbour's garden. She was brilliant with the other dog who really mises her, and great in the house and with people. She travels okay and is a nice medium sized girl. Can you offer Bailey a forever home?
