RUTH

(pictured with one of her dogs - Gilligan!)

Ruth is the Kennels Manager and has been since arriving here in September 2004. Ruth has previous experience working with dogs at the old Dogs Trust in Leeds.  She also has six dogs with her partner Freddie, 4 of which are rescued.

Ruth is fully qualified and insured to microchip small animals, she also has a qualification in Small Animal Care. Ruth is currently finishing a course in Animal Behaviour and Psychology, and a course in Basic Animal Nursing and First Aid.

Ruth attended the Animal Welfare Legislation conference  in London in February 2007 and a workshop in March 2007 about 'Handling Aggressive Dogs'. She has just completed her VNA (Veterinary Nutrition Adviser) course.

Ruth runs the rescue centre and is particularly interested in natural feeding and herbal alternatives, dog behaviour and training and all aspects of animal welfare.

Ruth is trained as a Nutritional Adviser for cats and dogs so if you have any queries about what to feed your pet please contact Ruth. For more details on Animal Nutrition please see the page at the bottom of the site titled 'Animal Nutritionist'.

"Having dealt hands on with dogs and cats for nearly 5 years I have noticed how much diet affects behaviour and overall condition of animals. Wherever possible I will avoid using any  chemicals or foods with additives. Having 2 dogs of my own with skin conditions, one with liver damage, one with breathing difficulties and two with behavioural problems as well as a cat with severe skin complaints I have tried numerous different approaches in the past and have found that combined with training, diet is the best road to go down".

Emma

Emma started full time at the kennels in July 2007. Emma has a qualification in Animal Management and small animal care.

Emma has two rescue cats of her own called Alex and Max , and a rescue dog called Cody who she adopted from Plantation Dog Rescue.

Emma has worked in a kennels and cattery before and really enjoys it. Emma attended a dog behavioural course in March 2008 and is hoping to attend another intermediate one later on this year. Emma also walked the 15+ miles for the sponsored walk on Easter Sunday.

MATTHEW

Matthew has been working on and off at the kennels for 3 years and is now back full time. Matthew loves his regulars and often walks them with his Miniature Yorkshire Terrier, Tiny.

FREDDIE

Freddie (pictured with Cap, an ex rescue dog) , worked full time in the kennels from September 2004 - January 2007. He has now moved on and is working full time in Aquatics which he really enjoys. Freddie still works at the kennels every now and again and does homevisits and vet runs for the rescue. He misses the kennels and the regulars but really wants to further his knowledge in the aquatics sector.

Freddie is also very into dog training and attended the 'Handling Aggressive Dogs' workshop in March 07.

Freddie is qualified to Microchip Small Animals, has done a course in Basic first Aid and Nursing for Cats and Dogs, a VNA and is currently doing an very complex aquatics course, he did still make time to come on the sponsored walk in the snow though!

DAVID (pictured with Ex Rescue Morgan who he fostered while she recovered from an operation)

David is very behind the scenes! He has many years experience in business and has the lovely job of keeping the accounts up to date and paying the wages!

David has three rescue cats of his own who have stayed in our cattery whilst he has been away and in the next few years hopes to get a rescue dog too.
